Abdulaziz Al-Hassoun: The Poet of Classical Arabic and Voice of Majesty, Bridging Business and the Beauty of Language

In an era defined by rapid progress and the increasing noise of life, Abdulaziz bin Othman Al-Hassoun emerges as a prominent Saudi businessman and an inspiring figure who seamlessly combines intellect, refinement, and a deep love for Classical Arabic (Fusha).

Al-Hassoun is not merely a successful entrepreneur; he is both a Classical and Nabati (Colloquial) poet. He possesses a captivating vocal presence—a voice of distinct majesty and tone that enchants listeners, blending dignity, emotion, and sincerity in his delivery.

A Deep-Rooted Passion for Poetry

The Arabic language has been an integral part of Al-Hassoun’s character since childhood. His passion for the Qasida (Ode) was evident when he began memorizing poetry in elementary school. It was during this phase that he wrote his first poems, confidently reciting them to his family, eager to gauge their reception of him as an emerging family poet.

Since then, he has become the family’s poet and voice for poetry, mastering his craft and memorizing the works of great poets from the pre-Islamic (Jahiliyyah) era to the Islamic age.

A Reservoir of Knowledge and the “Aura of Presence”

Al-Hassoun possesses a vast knowledge reserve in literature and poetry, having memorized over five thousand verses of poetry, including the famous Mu’allaqat (The Suspended Odes). He recalls and recites these verses with a unique delivery that combines strength, depth, and serenity.

Those close to him note that his voice carries the “Aura of Presence” (Hibat Al-Hudhoor), and his tone leaves an unforgettable impression, whether he is reciting poetry or engaging in ordinary conversation, thanks to its distinct character and high emotional resonance with the words.

At the age of fourteen, Al-Hassoun penned one of his most famous poems, which he still recites today:

اذكر ليالي العشق كانت من أعوام … واذكر هواك وليتني ما هويتك

ما كان ظني تنتهي ذيك الأحلام … ماضي هواك وليتني ما طريتك

(Remember the nights of love that were years ago… And remember your passion, though I wish I hadn’t loved you)

(I never thought those dreams would end… Your past love, and I wish I hadn’t brought it up)

This poem marked the beginning of a masterful poet’s journey, one who merged sincere feeling with beautiful vocabulary and delicate meaning, proving that poetry is born not from a void, but from a soul that understands the value and impact of the word.

The Art of Delivery: A Humanistic Message

Abdulaziz Al-Hassoun believes that voice and recitation are a humanistic and aesthetic message, and that poetry, in both Classical and Colloquial forms, is a pillar of authentic Arab culture. He sees recitation not just as pronouncing words, but as an art that requires soul, feeling, timing, and a tone that touches the heart before the ear.

Today, Al-Hassoun continues to balance the world of business and the world of the word, bridging intellect and emotion, affirming that true success is only complete when one is honest with oneself, devoted to their passion, and a connoisseur of beauty in every detail of life.

He extended his deep gratitude to his parents, who provided him with continuous support and encouragement from a young age, offering him the literary, poetic, and historical books that nourished his intellect and talent, and encouraging him to be a platform for his family and all who know him, through his voice, literature, and poetry.

His talent is not limited to words; it extends to a passion for horsemanship and chivalry. He has been a confident and passionate rider since the age of six, thereby uniting the strength of the cavalier with the sensitivity of the poet, merging the pulse of the ode with the neigh of authenticity.

Abdulaziz Al-Hassoun concludes: “Poetry is not written with ink; it is written with the soul. And whoever wishes to touch hearts must speak with their truth before uttering their name.”
