HRH Governor of Aseer Region Inaugurates flynas’ Fifth Operations Base at Abha International Airport

ABHA, SAUDI ARABIA – His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Aseer Region and Chairman of the Aseer Region Development Authority, has officially inaugurated the new flynas operations base at Abha International Airport.

The strategic launch was held in cooperation with the Aseer Region Development Authority and Cluster 2 Airports, in the presence of flynas Chairman Ayed Aljeaid and flynas CEO Bander Almohanna.

A Traditional Welcome for a Milestone Event

The inauguration ceremony featured a welcoming reception for the flynas aircraft, which was specially adorned with the distinct identity of the Aseer region. Upon its arrival at Abha International Airport, the aircraft was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute, followed by commemorative photos to mark the historic occasion.

With this launch, flynas officially becomes the first Saudi air carrier to operate flights from five major operational bases across the Kingdom, expanding its existing network in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Medina to now include Abha.

Enhancing Air Connectivity and Economic Growth

The establishment of the Abha base represents a significant step forward in flynas’ strategy to build an integrated national operational network. This expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to its national role of enhancing air connectivity across Saudi Arabia while stimulating economic and tourism growth in promising regions, with a particular focus on Aseer.

During the initial phase of the new base operations, flynas announced it will feature eleven domestic and international direct routes from Abha:

  • Year-Round International Destinations: Dubai, Cairo, Istanbul, and Addis Ababa.
  • Seasonal International Destinations: Kuwait and Trabzon.
  • Domestic Destinations: Existing routes connecting Abha to Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, and Tabuk.

The airline plans to gradually double the number of international and domestic destinations linked to Abha during the next phase of development.

Aligning with Saudi Vision 2030

The launch of the Abha operations base aligns with flynas’ long-term investment strategies in the Kingdom’s aviation and tourism sectors. The initiative is set to solidify the Aseer region’s position as a premier, year-round tourist destination, directly contributing to the objectives of the National Civil Aviation Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
